Parking and Ground Traffic Procedures

*Please Remember to CLOSE YOUR FLIGHT PLAN*

With an expanded ramp and improved tie downs COPPERSTATE 2006 was a huge success for the Aircraft Parking Staff! This year the improvements continue as work progresses on a 750’ x 400’ addition to the paved aircraft parking ramp projected to be completed prior to the ’07 event. We hope to make experience at COPPERSTATE 2007 enjoyable and hassle free.

Aircraft Parking will be generally divided into 4 areas:

1) Show Planes (Homebuilt, Classic, Warbird etc) will be displayed on the main ramp in front of the CGZ terminal building.

2) Aircraft Camping for anyone who wishes to sleep under the wing of their airplane. Anyone camping on the airport during COPPERSTATE 2006 will need to register with the campground host and pay standard camping fees. Showers will be avialable to all registered campers.

3) General Aircraft Parking is for anyone who will be flying in to COPPERSTATE but does not wish to show thier aircraft.

4) Kitplane Vendors will have their own tie down area which will make it much simpler for them to offer demo rides and perform fly-by's.

GETTING TO YOUR TIE DOWN SPOT

AFTER YOU CLEAR THE RUNWAY contact COPPERSTATE Parking Control on 122.7 and display a sign using one of the abbreviations below to help your Aricraft Parking volunteers guide you to your desired tie down area. Only aircraft parking volunteers will be wearing orange vests to distinguish them form other ramp staff such as Security etc. Look for the orange vests.

SP = Show Plane Parking

AC = Aircraft Camping

GA = General Aircraft Parking

VEND = Vendor Parking

Your sign should be light in color with letters that can be seen from 50 feet away.

ALL UNATTENDED AIRCRAFT MUST BE TIED DOWN SECURELY!!

Please bring your own tie down equipment. Tie downs will be available to rent in the terminal building but you can save yourself a long walk (to the terminal, back to your plane and then to the terminal again to return the hammer) by bringing tie down stakes, ropes and hammer with you.

After you have secured your aircraft please proceed to AIRCRAFT REGISTRATION to register your aircraft and pay admission fees for you and your passengers. NO ONE will be allowed in the COPPERSTATE Aircraft or Vendor Display Areas without a wrist band.

If you will be flying your aircraft during the show please remember that, except in the Aircraft Camping or Vendor Parking areas, your exact tie down space may not be available when you

return. Please be patient and flexible and work with your COPPERSTATE Aircraft Parking Volunteers who give their time to put on this event for you.

STARTUP AND TAXI PROCEDURE

To ensure the safety of spectators, all aircraft taxiing in the aircraft parking areas must be accompanied by at least one “wingwalker” to ensure that the propeller area remains clear during engine start and taxi. Do not start engines without first enlisting the aid of a fellow pilot, COPPERSTATE volunteer, Civil Air Patrol cadet, or other qualified person to perform this function. The wingwalker must accompany the aircraft until you have taxied clear of all areas where spectators are present.
